A Real-Life Trial Experience
The wrong body has been cremated - and everyone is a suspect: the funeral home, the crematory, and the cemetery. This Mock Trial is a real case presented just as it would be in the courtroom. It includes the attorneys, the plaintiff, the defendants, a judge—and of course a jury. Participants will see the trial unfold and see how the jury decides. This program examines problems that the deathcare profession faces when dealing with cremation, and it also provides a consumer’s perspective of what it’s like to be on the other end of the issue.

The Funeral Profession seems convinced that cremations pose the greatest risk when it comes to potential lawsuits. And rightfully so! As cremations rise in popularity, more lawsuits follow right along. However, the funeral profession is filled with risks that can be eclipsed by cremation, including embalming. Funeral Homes continue to have embalming liabilities hit them all the time. From wrongful embalming to negligent embalming—the potential lawsuit is always there.
